Indexation

Soon you will be hearing from us with regards to the annual price indexations. The Netherlands’ annual inflation rate surged to 3.4 percent in 2021, reaching the highest

inflation rate since April 2002, due mainly to a jump in prices of electricity, gas (for home use) and motor fuels. Aside from the consumer price index (CPI), CBS also calculates the European harmonized consumer price index (HICP). According to the European HICP inflation in the euro area rose from 3.4 to 4.1 percent.

Apart from indexation, an increasing demand for transport and a shortage of available personnel are the main reasons our costs are rising rapidly. Our transport partners have already confirmed that indexation on transport (parcel and pallet) will lie between 4% and 5% and we are now waiting for them to confirm their final numbers. And with regards to personnel, not only are we investing in keeping our team on board we also have to invest more in new people which are extremely difficult to find. In our industry the increase of wages lie between 5,5% and 6%. Of course we will do our best to keep any cost increases to a minimum but please be aware that the expected increase for 2022 will be higher than in previous years.
